1. Do you take magazines?
Yes we do. You can mix them with the newspapers.
2. Where should I set my garbage & recycling containers?
The garbage and recycling needs to be set out visible from the street.
3. What time should I have our garbage & recycling containers out?
All garbage and recycling should be set out by 6:00am on the day of collection.
4. Do you recycle glass?
Yes we do. Please place all glass bottles and jars carefully with your tin, aluminum, and plastic products.
5. What do I do with paint & chemicals?
AOK can dispose of any paint cans that are either empty or in which the paint is completely hardened. Otherwise, paint and hazardous waste need to be taken to the Sioux Falls Hazardous Waste
site on Cliff Ave north of Rice street.
6. Do you recycle electronics?
We do pick up electronics on certain days. Please call for our schedule.
7. Can newspaper & office paper go together?
Yes. Newspaper & office paper can be mixed together in one bin.
8. How often is recycling picked up?
Commercial recycling is picked up Monday through Friday as often as the customer
needs. Residential recycling is picked up every other week on the same day as
trash.
9. Do you supply yard waste containers? (See Yard Waste for more info)
Our yard waste service runs April – November. We do have a 65 and 95 gallon yard waste cart we will provide for customers on the weekly yard waste route.
10. How should I prepare my grass clippings? (See Yard Waste for more info)
Yard waste consists of grass and leaves only. If signed up for the weekly service, the clippings can be thrown into the yard waste cart loose. If using the yard waste bag system, please throw the clippings into the bags and secure them tight. Branches, shrubs, garden rubbish, etc are all considered trash.
Please bundle them in manageable piles tied with string roughly 4 feet in
length.
11. How can I get my grass clippings picked up? (See Yard Waste for more info)
If on the weekly route, the yard waste cart is on a route and will be dumped on the same day as the trash every week. If using the bag system, AOK must be called at least one day prior to trash service to schedule the bags to be picked up.
12. Do you take credit cards? Is there a fee? Which cards do you accept?
We proudly accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover credit cards. There is no fee for this service and it only takes a few minutes on the phone. We also offer bill paying online at www.trashbilling.com.

14. Where is the landfill and what is the phone number?
The landfill is located 5 miles west of town on 41st street on the south side of the highway. The landfill phone number is

15. What should I put in our recycling bin? (See recycling for more info)
AOK Sanitary offers a recycle bin that we will supply free of charge. Please set the recyclables beside the garbage cart in plain view from the street. Recycling information can be found in our recycling information page.
16. What if I have extra garbage or need a special pickup?
Extra garbage and special pickup will be taken for a small additional fee. Just call our office the day before trash service to schedule the extras and/or special pickup to be taken. Extras and special pickups will be left unless
we have received a phone call granting permission to take them. Please call for scheduling.
17. How do we dispose of larger items such as freezers or refrigerators? Is there any charge?
Larger items will be picked up the same as any extras or special pickups. There is an additional cost, so please call to get the cost of a specific item, as the prices vary.
18. What are your office hours?
Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
19. What is your billing cycle?
Commercial customers are billed on a monthly basis. Residential customers have
various billing cycles available. Monthly, Bi-Monthly or Quarterly.
